‘Fresh Manx Kippers Served Here’ Vintage Advert Tea Towel.

This ‘Manx kippers’ design was created by Rehab Squared for a commercial Interior Design Project in Peel on the Isle of Man in 2020. The ambition of the design renovation was to revitalise the interior of the Harbour Lights cafe while retaining the original (self-assured twee) character of the old-fashioned Manx tea shop/cafe. A subtle and sympathetic design hand was key to the success of the refurbishment.

As part of the project, Rehab Squared designed and hand-painted a collection of vintage style, distressed wall signs to enhance the quintessentially quaint interior; farmhouse rustic blended with good old British seaside elements to breath new life into a Manx classic. ‘Chic’ beach destinations such as New England and The Hamptons were also used heavily as inspiration for the design aesthetic of this space - a classic yet super relaxed embodiment of coastal sophistication. An interior your Nanna would be proud of was created.

The original “Manx Kippers’ sign is still on display at the Harbour Lights cafe in Peel and is reprinted here as a limited Edition for 2023.
