Offered here is an exceptionally rare 1948 Filben Maestro Type FP-300 jukebox, manufactured in the United States. Housed in a sleek combination of polished aluminium and walnut veneer, with illuminated plastic panels, this jukebox plays 30 selections of 78rpm records and measures approx. 57 x 35 in (145 x 89 cm).

Only a limited number of the FP-300 models are known to exist, making this a significant piece of mid-century design.

What truly sets this jukebox apart is its connection to legendary industrial designer Raymond Loewy—the creative mind behind iconic designs such as the Shell logo, Greyhound buses, the Coldspot refrigerator, and the Lucky Strike package. Known as "The Father of Industrial Design," Loewy's belief that beautiful products outsell ordinary ones is embodied in the Maestro's bold, streamlined form.

Extremely Limited Production

Filben produced only two jukebox models, making any surviving examples extremely rare. Fewer than 900 units of the Maestro were produced before Filben Manufacturing ceased operations due to legal battles with Rock-Ola and post-war material shortages. The innovative 30-record changer was developed by William Filben and originally offered through a partnership with Rock-Ola before being manufactured independently by Batavia Metal Products Co. and distributed by the U.S. Challenge Co. of Chicago.

Short-lived but legendary, the FP-300 is now considered one of the rarest and most collectible jukeboxes of the 1940s.
