1958 Ditchburn MK2R Music Maker 30 Jukebox

A beautifully restored and collectible 1958 Ditchburn MK2R Music Maker 30 (converted from the earlier MK2 model) refurbished by Rob’s Restorations and fully documented on the official Ditchburn site.

This compact jukebox was carefully rebuilt from a poor-condition original into a striking and fully functional piece, offering an authentic vintage jukebox experience with some updated components for reliability and playability.

Key Features:

  • Fully refurbished by Rob’s Restorations, with full documentation of the restoration process

  • 30 selections (single side play) using 45rpm records

  • Original Simplex mechanism modified for 45rpm operation

  • Rotary dial selector with in-house engineered pin-bank system

  • Updated coin mechanism accepting sixpences

  • 240V AC operation

  • Cabinet design: windshield-style viewing window, fiberglass top, steel speaker grill, and decorative cast stars

  • Mono output, with warm, authentic vintage sound

  • Manufactured by Ditchburn Equipment Ltd., Lytham, Lancashire

Notes on Restoration & History:

During restoration, the machine was fitted with a generic valve amplifier and modern speaker, as the original BTH-manufactured PX4 valve amp was missing.

A generic stereo cartridge and tone arm were installed for functionality (amp and speaker remain mono).

The striking red finish was applied during restoration — not a factory original. Unlike the rare Butlins-supplied red models (one preserved in the Ditchburn Museum, Lytham St Annes), this machine does not have Butlins provenance.

Why This Jukebox is Special:

While not an untouched original, this MK2R has been transformed into a beautiful, working jukebox that offers the joy and spectacle of a classic 1950s machine. Its restoration is thorough, well-documented, and tastefully finished, making it both a playable collector’s item and a standout piece of design history.
